(NEXSTAR) – Jeffrey Louis is vying for a spot on Team USA’s break-dancing team as anticipation builds for the sport to make its Olympic debut in Paris this summer. Louis, who is from Houston, said he is always seeking out new creative ideas and draws his inspiration from the world around him.
“Me and my friends we like to go out and look at just anything that inspires us. So, we’re walking around, we’re looking at the structures of buildings and we’re looking at the fashion,” Louis said. “We try to pull from a lot of different things.”
The 29-year-old, who goes by “B-boy Jeffro” in the breaking world, said he is excited for people to see breaking in the spotlight.
“I think it’s going to be a mind-blowing moment to see breaking on the stage,” Louis said.
Louis most recently took home a silver medal at the 2023 Pan American Games.
The first qualifying event for breaking took place in Shanghai earlier this month. The final qualifying event will take place from June 20-23 in Budapest.
