(NEXSTAR) – Ben Washburne won the silver medal at the 2023 World Rowing Championships in 2023, and at the Paris 2024 Paralympics he’ll tune out the noise and go for gold.

“I just get out in the water and just worry about trying to get a perfect stroke,” Ben said.

Washburne was born with a severe club foot on his left leg and spent a large portion of his childhood in a wheelchair and relearning how to walk after multiple surgeries.

Ben, a recent Williams College graduate, has previously rowed in the course that will be used in Paris, so he is hoping that serves as an advantage in Team USA’s quest for gold.
