TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — The country fell in love with gymnast Stephen Nedoroscik, also now known as the “Clark Kent of pommel horse” after securing a bronze medal for Team USA during the Paris Olympics.
The pommel horse was his only event in the team competition and Nedoroscik delivered. His performance led Team USA to medal in men’s gymnastics for the first time since 2008, but he didn’t stop there.
During the men’s individual pommel finals, the 25-year-old pommel horse specialist locked up another bronze medal, making him a two-time Olympic medalist in his first go at the Summer Games.
After a few weeks in Paris, France, “The Specialist” returned to Sarasota, Florida on Tuesday, where was welcomed home by cheering fans and loved ones. Although Nedoroscik hails from Worcester, Massachusetts, the gymnast trains at EVO Gym in Sarasota.
While Nedoroscik came in clutch for his team, the gymnast hinted at a possible return to the Games in 2028 when Los Angeles, California, is set to host the Olympics.
“Bronze team. Bronze horse. I am forever grateful to have had this opportunity. This Olympic experience has been everything and more. Thank you to everyone who has supported me. Bronze is a great achievement, but I got eyes for something shinier in my future #2028,” he posted on X.
Regardless, the country and the Tampa Bay area are incredibly proud of him, his teammates who also train in Sarasota, Brody Malone, alternate Shane Wiskus, and Team USA’s accomplishments at the Games.
