PARIS, France (NEXSTAR) — Team USA’s Valarie Allman struck gold again in women’s discus throwing 69.50m. That makes back to back gold for Allman, previously winning gold in the 2021 Tokyo Games.

Allman fouled on her first attempt, landing the discus wide of the right-side boundary, but took the lead on her second try with a throw of 68.74m. She put the competition totally out of reach with the 69.50m on her fourth attempt.

According to her Olympic team profile, the Pennsylvania native was a dancer as a child but tried sprinting and leaping events her freshman year and eventually tested out discus. She won silver at the world championships last year.

Silver went to Feng Bin of China and bronze to Sandra Elkasevic of Croatia.
