PARIS (NEXSTAR) – Paris is known as one of the fashion capitals of the world. It has everything from big designer names to items you wouldn’t find anywhere else.
From the time of Marie Antoinette to the houses of Chanel and Dior, French fashion has taken center stage in the art of couture.
The Musée Yves Saint Laurent Paris showcases the creativity of one of France’s most influential fashion designers.
It’s located in the legendary mansion that served as Saint Laurent’s headquarters for nearly 30 years and is dedicated to his life and work.
The museum is filled with a treasure trove of pieces from his iconic haute couture collections, along with illustrations, sketches and films. It spans 4,800 square feet and was designed to recreate the intimate feel of the original couture house.
Inside, you’ll find reception rooms where Saint Laurent met with clients and in the heart of the museum is his studio where he would work night and day in the run-up to his fashion shows.
It remains just as he left it in 2002.
