PORTSMOUTHS, Va. (WAVY) — Firefighters say no one was hurt in a house fire Monday morning, but the home received significant damage.

Crews responded to the 2300 block of Richmond Avenue just after 6 a.m. and found smoke and flames coming from the home. It was eventually brought under control at 7:01 a.m.

There was significant damage to the rear of the home, but no injuries to occupants or firefighters.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation and one occupant was displaced.

Firefighters say there were no working smoke alarms in the home.
