SUFFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — Students at King’s Fork High School in Suffolk have been evacuated due to a bomb threat.
Suffolk Fire & Rescue and Suffolk police arrived on the scene at approximately 10 a.m. after a notification from school administrators.
The school was evacuated to conduct a sweep of the building with assistance from Virginia State Police and the Newport News Police Department K9 unit. At 11:32 a.m., the school was declared safe and students were permitted back into the building.
A few minutes after first responders cleared the incident, another bomb threat was received; however, because the K9 unit already swept the building, there was no need to evacuate the students and staff again.
Both of these incidents remain under investigation.
