FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. (WNCN) — Fort Bragg is warning people of a scam circulating, according to a post on its Facebook page.
Fake deployment letters signed by Fort Bragg Garrison Commander Col. Kyle Reed are making the rounds. They’re encouraging families and friends of deployed service members to subscribe to a website, MilVPN-Usaf, the post said.
The website tries to trick people into signing up for a plan and make a payment in order to contact deployed service members, the post said.
“Online offenders will go great lengths to deceive unsuspecting users out of money and their identity,” the post read.
