GLOUCESTER, Va. (WAVY) — William & Mary’s Virginia Institute of Marine Science (VIMS) is set to host the 22nd annual Marine Science Day on Saturday.

During the event, scheduled from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on June 1, visitors will be able to discover the world of science through interactive exhibits, family-friendly activities and behind-the-scenes tours of the VIMS research facility.

Some of the activities include:

  • A variety of hands-on exhibits to expose visitors to Chesapeake Bay wildlife and demonstrate the work being done at the VIMS
  • Interactive tours of the entire VIMS campus, including its state-of-the-art Acuff Center for Aquaculture, marine research vessels and massive specimen collection
  • The annual Marine Life Costume Contest – open to all ages
  • Career fair highlighting jobs related to marine and envioronmental science
  • Expert-led seafood cooking demonstrations and art projects
  • An interactive photo booth, food trucks, cotton candy, ice cream and kettle corn vendors

The event is free and open to the public.
