VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) – Intermittent closures along the Virginia Beach Oceanfront Boardwalk are expected to take place on Tuesday, June 25.
According to the Virginia Beach City Government, in association with a Special Event and Film Office permit, the Boardwalk will be closed intermittently between 14th to 16th Street on Tuesday, June 25 between the hours of 6 a.m. to midnight.
The city confirmed the closure is for the production of the Pharrell Williams’ biopic, informally titled ‘Atlantis.’
The working title Atlantis is the name of a community where Pharrell learned to love music.
Chris Damon, a set builder for the movie and Virginia Beach native, talked to 10 On Your Side about the set.
“It’s very exciting,” Damon said. “The weather is cooperating this time, which is really wonderful. I’m enjoying the breeze because it’s been really hot this past couple of days, but it’s been wonderful seeing some of the sights I saw as a kid and coming back down from Richmond.”

Areas of the beach and on-street parking between 14th and 16th Street will also be closed on Tuesday, including access to the playground at 15th Street.
The bike path will remain open, according to the city.
