VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) — Firefighters responded to a fire on Thursday at the Bahama Breeze restaurant in Virginia Beach, where an electrician was seriously burned in an explosion last week.
Virginia Beach firefighters say the call for Thursday’s fire came at 12:24 p.m., and they found smoke and flames when the arrived. The fire was contained to the roof line of the restaurant, and firefighters used water to knock it down.
No injuries were reported and crews were still working on hot spots as of 2:11 p.m. The cause was accidental, as contractors were performing hot work on the roof line, the Virginia Beach Fire Department says.
The restaurant’s interior didn’t sustain damage, firefighters say, and can reopen after the Virginia Beach Health Department and Dominion Energy are finished with their work.
The cause of last week’s fire, which left Master Electrician James Warren with second- and third-degree burns to his neck, face, forearms and finger, was due to an electrical issue.
