RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) — The life of Aminah Michelle Guy, one of three people found shot dead in a Cary home on Nov. 18, is being remembered by her loved ones on Tuesday.
In honor of the 19-year-old, her family and friends are set to gather at Haywood Funeral Home in Raleigh for a visitation and service.
On the Monday, Nov. 18, officers with the Cary Police Department police responded to a home in the 100 block of Smokemont Drive shortly after 3 p.m.. Aminah Guy was found dead along with 54-year-old Erica Alyse Holton and 19-year-old Xavier Neil Holton.
Investigators have confirmed Erica Holton and Aminah Guy were Xavier’s mother and girlfriend, respectively.
Erica Holton and Aminah Guy were found dead in the living room area of the home, while Xavier Holton was found dead in an upstairs bathroom with a firearm found in the sink, according to a search warrant.
Aminah Guy’s mother, Angela Guy, told CBS 17 said her daughter and Xavier Holton were dating for over a year after meeting at North Carolina Central University. Angela Guy said she started having concerns about Xavier Holton’s mental health around three weeks before the shooting when she said he started hearing voices.
Erica Holton’s husband, Shawn Certain, told police he was on the phone with his wife when he began to hear a loud disturbance followed by two “loud pops.” The call dropped and Certain said he was not able to reach his wife.
He also told CBS 17 that Xavier Holton recently mentioned purchasing a firearm, had experienced suicidal ideations and attempted suicide by crashing his car into a parked car going 100+ m.p.h. on Nov. 8.
“From this tragedy,” Certain said, “we can hopefully see the light, and help anybody, and do what we can so this situation won’t happen again for nobody else, because this is really, really a bad situation right now for us and we don’t want that to happen to nobody else.”
