CHESAPEAKE, Va. (WAVY) — A Chesapeake couple moved into their Fernwood Farms home about a month ago. While getting settled, Stormie and Jim Wright took to the attic and came upon a box of old letters.

Right away, they realized these were love letters between a husband and wife. Stormie inspected them further and saw the letters were nearly 70 years old from Robert Davis to his wife, Ethel. Robert was writing while being deployed aboard the USS Valley Forge. The couple was married for 48 years and moved into that Fernwood Farms home in 1963 when it was brand new. Ethel passed away in the 90s and Robert died in 2012.

Stormie did some homework and found out the Davis family still lives in Hampton Roads and has made contact with the couple’s daughter. She intends to turn the letters over to her and says she would never in a million years have tossed them out.
