PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) — Four men were injured in two shootings late Monday night in Portsmouth, according to police.

Portsmouth police said in a tweet officers responded to the first shooting just after 11 p.m. in the 900 block of Freedom Avenue, near Cavalier Manor Elementary School.

“Next thing I see if like the blue lights and stuff, and I come outside and the guy is sitting on my driveway,” said Heather Kitchen, who lives on Freedom Avenue.  “Luckily my mom and them were here and they were able to grab the guy and help him into the driveway.”

The call about the second shooting in the 4600 block of Greenwood Drive — less than a mile from the first scene — was received about three minutes later.

Police said officers found two men injured at each location. All four men had injuries that were not considered life-threatening.

“I just saw a bunch of flashing lights flashing through the window, you know the reflection, so I popped outside,” said neighbor Clarence Faulks.  “It was pretty crazy out here.”

Kitchen says she’s heard gunshots in the area before, but a man bleeding in her driveway was shocking.

“It’s never been in my backyard so it was pretty, its like a mind-opener and everything,” she said.  “Our yard is a crime scene, you know, and I’m like I can’t believe this.”

It was not immediately clear whether the two incidents were related.
