VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) — Shontrina Fountain rolled into her video arraignment hearing today in a wheelchair. She was just recently released from the hospital after Friday’s run in with police. 

Fountain is facing charges for malicious wounding and felony charges for assaulting a law enforcement officer.

Fountain is suspected of stabbing a bank teller at the Navy Federal Credit Union on Providence Road in Virginia Beach. The injured teller was taken to the hospital with non life-threatening injuries.

Fountain reportedly ran from the scene, however it didn’t take police long to track her down. Officials say she refused to get out of car when asked, leading police to use a TASER on her, twice. Both times were ineffective.

Then Fountain reportedly got out of the car and lunged at a law enforcement officer. Court paperwork shows a cop fired his gun at her and missed.

Then authorities deployed the stun gun on Fountain a third time. This time, she fell to the ground and police were finally able to take her into custody. Fountain was taken to the hospital and spent time in ICU. 

She has since been released from the hospital and is currently being held in the Virginia Beach jail without bond. 

Over the weekend Fountain reportedly refused mental health treatment. According to court paperwork, Fountain was checked into the Virginia Beach Psychiatric Center back in April. On Wednesday she told the judge she wanted to return to the psych center. The judge said they wouldn’t decide that on Wednesday. 

Fountain will go before a judge again this coming Tuesday, Sept. 4. The judge set her preliminary hearing for October.
