SUFFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — Some Dominion Energy customers in the Hampton Roads area who lost power Monday morning due to strong storms are still waiting for it to be restored.

As of 11 p.m. Tuesday, Dominion is reporting about 300 customers without power in southeastern Virginia, with the majority — about 160 — in Norfolk.

A Dominion spokeswoman said the vast majority of these customers will have power back by 11 p.m. Tuesday with a few spilling into Wednesday.

As of 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, power had been restored to at least 98 percent of customers.

Most customers in North Carolina have had their power restored.

Beware of downed power lines. Very high winds and rain can cause trees and branches to fall, which may bring down power lines. Stay at least 30 feet away and make sure your family, pets, and neighbors also avoid the downed wire.

Call Dominion Energy at 1-866-DOM-HELP (1-866-366-4357) to report the downed wire.
