NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WAVY) — A woman wanted in connection to a 2017 homicide in Newport News has been taken into custody in Hawaii. 

Authorities say Shannon Hodges, 21, was arrested in Honolulu on Wednesday and charged with second-degree murder, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, discharging a firearm in an occupied dwelling and kidnapping. 

Police were searching for Hodges after the shooting of 19-year-old Denzel Marquise Labiche, of the 400 block of Cox Landing in Newport News. Police say he was pronounced dead minutes after dispatchers received a call for the shooting at 3:47 p.m. on May 29, 2017. 

She’s currently awaiting her first court date.
