NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — A Virginia Beach man has been charged with driving under the influence after police say he crashed a car in a creek Sunday night in Norfolk.

Norfolk police spokesman Daniel Hudson says officers responded to a crash at Mayflower Road and Connecticut Avenue — along Knitting Mill Creek — around 9:15 p.m.

Hudson says a caller had reported that a car was partially submerged in the water, with the driver unhurt and out off the car. The driver, 29-year-old Jacob W. Daniel, was charged with DUI.
