NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — Two men hit by cars less than 24 hours apart at the intersection of Newport Ave. and W. Little Creek Road in Norfolk.
The man who was hit trying to cross the intersection Wednesday morning will be OK.
But Norfolk Police say the man hit Tuesday evening didn’t make it. He has been identified as 29-year-old Sean K. Spratling from Norfolk.
One neighbor says he was at the intersection Tuesday evening when he saw the first man get hit.
“From that crosswalk to that sidewalk, he was flying,” said witness Marco.
“It hit him and threw him a good thirty feet,” said Michael Dole, another witness.
“His whole windshield was shattered. You couldn’t see through it,” said Dole.
Dole who has lived right in front of the intersection for 5 years, says there’s a lot of foot traffic in the area, and is worried this could happen again.
“This intersection is bad, I mean you hear cars screeching, honking horns, and accidents,” said Dole.
As for Tuesday’s deadly crash, once the Norfolk Police Traffic Fatality Team completes their investigation, they’ll turn it over to the Commonwealth Attorney’s Office to see if charges will be filed.
For the crash that happened Wednesday morning, the driver, a 57-year-old woman, got a ticket for failing to yield the right of way.
