ASSATEAGUE ISLAND, Md. (WAVY) — An official birth announcement was made today by the National Parks Service.
A healthy chestnut filly was born early Saturday morning to “Gokey GoGo Bones.” on Assateague Island.
The new foal and her mother live in a very busy area near campgrounds on the Maryland side of the island.
A mare can be very protective of a new foal. For this reason, the National Park Service wants to remind visitors to remain a minimun of 40 feet away from the wild horses.
It is very important that visitors give the wild horses plenty of space
