UPDATE: Virginia State Police announced Thursday that Charlene Young-Jones was found safe.


VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) – Police are asking for the public’s help in finding a missing 63-year-old woman with “some cognitive impairments.”

According to Virginia Beach Police, Charlene Young-Jones wandered from her home in the 3800 block of Forrester Lane on February 23. She was last seen in the area Tuesday around 3 p.m. and is believed to have left on foot.

When she left Virginia Beach, she was wearing dark green pants, a bright-colored jacket, and a red skull cap. 

Family members reported her missing Tuesday around 6:30 p.m. Police said she may have been trying to get to Norfolk. Officials say she has some cognitive impairments and does not have a cell phone.

At about 10:21 p.m., Young-Jones was last seen at the 7-Eleven in the 3800 block of Granby Street in Norfolk. She was wearing blue pants, a tan jacket, and fur-lined boots that reach shin height. She was not wearing a head covering.

Young-Jones is described as a Black woman, about 5 feet 4 inches, weighing about 139 pounds.
