Keagan Hughes joined the WAVY 10 News team in July 2024 as a multimedia journalist and reporter.

The way to pronounce her name is Kay-Gan.

She grew up in the Sandbridge area in Virginia Beach and wanted to come back to tell the stories of her community. Keagan graduated from Catholic High School in 2018. She used to watch WAVY as a kid and made it her goal to one day be a part of the team.

Keagan received her bachelor’s degree in communication with a concentration in interpersonal skills and a minor in creative writing from James Madison University in 2022. Go Dukes!

Keagan was a reporter and senior anchor for JMU’s student-run newscast Breeze TV.

Before coming back to Hampton Roads, she was a multimedia journalist and evening weekend anchor at 29News/WVIR in Charlottesville from 2022-2024.

In her free time, Keagan enjoys reading, watching JMU football games, trying new coffee spots, and baking cookies!
