Lauren Martinez

Lauren Martinez is an award-winning journalist who joined the WAVY-TV 10/WVBT-FOX43 news team in May of 2024.  

She co-anchors on FOX43 weekdays from 8 – 9 a.m. and is a full-time reporter for WAVY and FOX43 newscasts.

Prior to joining WAVY, Lauren worked at the ABC/CBS affiliate WLOX in South Mississippi as a weekend anchor/reporter for “Good Morning Mississippi” and the 6 p.m. and 10 p.m. newscasts.

Lauren was recently awarded second place for ‘Reporter of the Year’ by the Mississippi Association of Broadcasters.

Before jumping into the TV news industry, she worked as a digital entertainment reporter where her focus was television, music and film.

She’s covered major events including Super Bowl 2019, the 68th Miss Universe pageant, and the 2020 Presidential election.

Her work has been featured in Deadline, Yahoo! News, and the Toronto International Film Festival.

Lauren is originally from New Orleans, Louisiana. She has traveled quite a bit and lived in Atlanta, GA; Dallas, TX; Austin, TX; and Manhattan, NY. She attended Clark Atlanta University where she earned a bachelor’s degree in Mass Media Arts with a concentration in Radio/TV/Film.

She’s a proud member of the National Association of Black Journalists and the National Association of Hispanic Journalists.

Lauren is a passionate storyteller who loves to connect with the community. She’s excited to report in Hampton Roads.
