We’ll see partly to mostly cloudy skies for much of Saturday, before some showers move in this evening. Rain showers chances increase by late evening – 6 to 7 pm with rain likely as we head into the overnight.

Most spots across the area will pick up around 0.50″ to 0.75″ of rain. The heavier batch of rain will move through Sunday morning around daybreak with the actual front. Then, after that I expect to see some lingering showers Sunday afternoon.

Temperature wise today, areas long the coast will hang out in the upper 50s. Low 60s are possible inland. Near the coast too, some marine fog may stick around. That could keep it foggy and a little cooler into parts of VA Beach towards Shore Drive/Fort Story and perhaps Hampton along Buckroe/Grandview too. Mariners should keep in mind this potential for marine fog too- be careful if you head out onto the water.

Speaking of temperatures- what a wild day Friday was. We tied the record high of 77°F – a temperature that stands as the 5th warmest on record for all of January. The all time January high if you’re curious is 84°F.

We’ve made it through the climatological coldest part of winter based off average temperatures. However, as usual, January has been a little weird, and I’m sure Feb will bring some cooler temps too. Much of next week looks to be in the 40s to low 50s.

Hope you have a great weekend!
