High pressure builds into the area today, resulting in a cooler start to the week in the wake of a cool front.

For Sunday, the biggest thing you’ll need is a light jacket for the morning and evening. Expect sunshine and a mix of some cloudiness with a high of only around 62 or 63.

There is a small chance of a shower in NC, but most of it will likely evaporate in the drier air as it falls. We call this virga in meteorology.

Overnight Sunday night and into Monday morning, we’ll see temperatures drop into the mid to upper 30s inland to around 45-50 near the shores. This coudl lead to some patchy frost inland.

Monday afternoon, look for mostly sunny skies and remaining a little on the cool side with highs in the mid 60s.

Temperatures will warm into the 70s for Tuesday through Friday. Halloween on Thursday looks to be the warmest day with highs in the upper 70s. No rain is in sight other than a stray shower possible for Friday night. We’ve gone almost the entire month since Oct 1st without measurable rainfall more than 0.01″ at the Norfolk Airport climate site. It’s likely we’ll end October in the top 5 driest on record, likely around the 3rd driest.

In the tropics, the NHC is watching the western Caribbean for a chance of development over the next week- nothing to worry about right now.

Hope you have a great Sunday!
