The stationary front that helped bring us some showers and storms Saturday will slowly move south for today – so as a result the higher rain chances will be in NE NC and the Outer Banks. A line/cluster of storms will impact the Outer Banks, especially points from Kitty Hawk/Manteo south in the late afternoon.
I wouldn’t be surprised to see a shower/storm or two develop across parts of Southside and the NC/VA border area, but I think the higher chances should be near the Albemarle and points south.
Tonight is the peak of the Perseid Meteor Shower! If you want to view it, best viewing will be after 11:30pm once the moon sets to sunrise if you have a clearing in the clouds.
Heading through the next couple of days, we’ll see a mix of sun and clouds. A shower or two will be possible, especially in NE NC and the OBX. Highs will be in the low to mid 80s, and humidity levels will be a little lower too! As a result, our morning temperatures will start off around the upper 60s to low 70s vs the mid to upper 70s.
We continue to keep an eye on a tropical wave that is moving west in the open Atlantic Ocean. This system is expected to become a TD or TS by the early part of this week. Most models do show it curving out to sea, but we’ll watch it as it still hasn’t formed and things can/often do change. Even if it curved off the coast, waves/rip currents will occur along our coast.
Hope you have a great Sunday!
