High pressure builds into the area for the weekend, leaving us with some really nice weather expected.

For Saturday, we’ll have mostly sunny skies with high temps in the low 80s. Humidity will remain low through Saturday – so enjoy it! It’s a rare treat this time of the year.

While a few clouds will moves overnight, I still think with the low humidity it will be cool in spots Sunday morning. Some towns inland could fall into the mid to upper 50s (warmer than this morning, but still coolish).

We’ll increase the humidity and the temps a little bit on Sunday. Highs will be in the mid 80s. There could be some isolated showers by the evening. We’ll have more clouds and moisture on Monday, with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms Monday afternoon. Some heavy downpours will be possible.

Today, June 1st is the start of the 2024 Atlantic Hurricane Season. The combination if La nina and warmer than average sea surface temperatures is expected to produce a very active season, with several major hurricanes. It only takes one. Prepare NOW – just in case. You should check your insurance policy (and flood insurance policy), take photos of your home with your cell phone and consider trimming up trees around your house now before the season gets active. It’s also a good idea to get a case of water, some extra batteries and a tarp to have in the event of a storm.

Hopefully, Hampton Roads and NC escapes any impact this season – but you need to be prepared.
