Meeting Inspiring Guests Every Day
Time has flown by since I started my internship, and each day brings something new and exciting. I love watching people come on the show and speak so passionately about their programs, companies or upcoming events. Their energy and enthusiasm make each segment exciting, and it’s inspiring to see how much their work means to them. Some guests bring innovative ideas, while others share personal stories that leave a lasting impact. One of the most exciting moments recently was when the Hampton University marching band “The Marching Force” appeared on the show the Friday before the Super Bowl. As a Norfolk State student, it was so much fun talking and interacting with them, especially since HBCU culture is such a big part of who we are. Getting to connect with other college students in this setting made the experience even more special.
A Taste of Culture with Kitchen Guests
My favorite guests are always the kitchen guests. I love trying new foods, especially from different cultures, or tasting unique versions of the same dish since everyone cooks differently. Food has a way of bringing people together, and I enjoy hearing the stories behind the recipes and traditions. Some dishes remind me of meals I’ve had at home, while others introduce me to completely new flavors and techniques. It’s fascinating how something as simple as a recipe can carry so much history and meaning. I always brag to my family about the amazing foods I get to try, and they love hearing about all the different dishes. Sometimes, I even try to recreate them at home, though they don’t always turn out the same! Getting to interact with chefs and food experts has made me appreciate the art of cooking even more.
Connecting with Guests and Gaining Experience
One of the best parts of this internship is that I don’t just watch the guests—I get to interact with them, too. Speaking with them and learning about their experiences makes the internship so much more meaningful. Whether it’s business owners, artists, or fellow students, every conversation is an opportunity to learn something new. This hands-on experience has been incredible, and I’m so grateful for the opportunity. Every day brings something new, and it makes me excited for what’s to come next. I’ve learned so much in just a short time, and I know this experience is preparing me for the future. Being in a fast-paced media environment has strengthened my communication skills, adaptability and confidence. It has also confirmed how much I love storytelling and sharing meaningful content with an audience. The connections I’m making and the knowledge I’m gaining will stay with me long after this internship ends. I can’t wait to continue growing and taking in everything this experience has to offer!
