Hello to the Hampton Roads! I am officially writing my first blog as an intern in the promotions department at WAVY-TV 10 News! I am very thankful for the opportunity and I am ready to get the most out of it. This internship will allow me to practice what I love to do the most as I get to shoot, edit and write scripts for promotional videos to help uplift the brand.

My first day was very informative, and I was welcomed with open arms by a group of intelligent, hardworking and creative individuals that have a strong passion for their craft. Mike showed me how channel logs are organized, Nicole and I explored an array of camera gear that the promotions team uses and Antonio showed me the editing process that goes into their videos.

My second day was just as magical as my first! I had the opportunity to shadow talented producers, creating promotional forecast videos for the notable Jeremy Wheeler and Don Slater! As a little boy, my grandmother, my mother and I would watch the news every day, so to see the actual news anchors in person was very surreal.

I helped set up production where I assisted Nicole with lights and camera set-ups. At the end of the day, I got great feedback from commercial producers Victoria and Ezra where they showed the current stories they are working on and the upcoming shoots they plan to cover. Everything has been straightforward and rewarding, and I always feel involved. These first two days have been very engaging and I can’t wait to see what else this internship has in store!
