PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) – Growing up watching WAVY-TV 10, and now interning for The Hampton Roads Show is something I would have never imagined. I am entering my third week and have soaked up so much knowledge.

The first day at The Hampton Roads Show was better than expected. Craig and Kenisha taught me how to mic guest up and set up the studio. I learned how to read and understand the run down for the day. It was cool to see what goes on behind-the-scenes to produce a show. I had no idea the preparation and dedication it took. Even though it was my first day, I felt like I was already a part of the team.

I did a lot in week one, and I am still trying to process it all. On Thursday, I went out with Chris and James to shoot rejoiners. I had no idea what a rejoiner was or the purpose of them until now. We shot in downtown Norfolk and had people say, “I am [your name] in Norfolk and you are watching The Hampton Roads Show.”

Friday was by far the highlight of my week at WAVY-TV 10. I attended the Harbor Fest at Town Point Park. Marielena gave me advice and helpful tips about being on air. Watching her effortlessly anchor has inspired me to keep thriving after my goals. I also met the Don Slater, Tom Schaad and Andy Fox. I left the Harbor Fest feeling inspired and can’t wait for what is to come.

Oh, did I mention that I met Pusha-T this week? You never know who will walk through the doors at The Hampton Roads Show!
