Blog: A cooler weekend with a few showers.

Temperature Trend

Yesterday afternoon some parts of the region started cooling down, especially along the coast like Virginia Beach. It took a little longer in some inland locations, but we finally cooled down there by the early evening. We all started off cooler this morning with temps in the low 50s. It was pretty cloudy over the entire region.

Clouds This Morning

The cold front that caused the cool down is now settling to our south.

Regional Weather Map

We will have a steady breeze off of the water through the day. It will run out of the east/northeast at 8-12mph. This is going to pull in a cool maritime airmass. Water temps are in the 50s and 60s right now.

Current Water Temps

So any breeze off of the water this time of year is a cooling wind. We are also pulling in a lot of moisture off of the water. This will keep us mostly cloudy through the bulk of the day. The models suggest we’ll have a little sun during the mid-afternoon. We’ll see. High temps will only be in the mid-upper 60s.

Forecast Temps Today

There may be a couple of 70s inland/west. We’ll have some spotty showers by the evening. Then we’ll have some scattered rain showers tomorrow morning. This will be just ahead of the 2nd cool front that will come in from the west. The scattered showers will roll through the region between the morning and the early afternoon hours.

Future Trak Midday Saturday

The front will move offfshore by Saturday evening. So we should dry out between Saturday afternoon and Saturday night. High temps tomorrow will be in the low-mid 60s again.

Forecast Temps Tomorrow

We’ll be mostly cloudy until some clearing later in the afternoon.

We’ll start off Sunday with some sunshine. Temps will be in the upper 40s to low 50s in the morning. Then we’ll develop more clouds as we go into midday. We’ll even have some scattered rain showers develop in the afternoon.

Future Trak Sunday Afternoon

High temps will be in the low 60s. We’ll stay cool into early next week. Highs will be in the 60s Monday and Tuesday. However, we’ll be more in the upper 60s to low 70s between Tuesday and Wednesday.
