Over the weekend we had some nice weather. We were dry most of the time. Temps were cool but not too cold. There was an interesting phenomenon that happened Friday night into Saturday. Some of the dust from recent dust storms over the southwestern U.S. migrated east and combined with some local rain showers. Many folks woke up in the morning with lots of dusty spots on their vehicles. After that many folks will want to wash their vehicles. I think we’ll have some good weather for doing that over the next few days… Overall…

Car Wash Forecast

Today there will be some rain in the region. So that’s why I say “overall”. A lot of the area will stay dry, but there will likely be some scattered rain showers over North Carolina. This is going to be closer to an area of low pressure today.

Regional Weather Map

The low will pass to our south through today. It will ride east along a stationary front. However, it will push a little moisture up our way. High pressure and dry air to the north will block a lot of that moisture. This means that we’ll have the highest rain chances to our south with more sunshine to the north.

Rain Chances Today

There may be a few showers in North Carolina by midday, but the rain will pick up a bit more between the late afternoon and evening hours.

Future Trak This Afternoon
Future Trak This Evening

We will develop an easterly breeze at 8-12mph. High temps will warm to the low 60s this afternoon. It will be cooler near the shore.

Forecast Temps Today

Tomorrow the low will push out to sea. In the morning there will be some strong winds, briefly, over the southern Outer Banks. Wind gusts could be up to 30mph for a time down there. There may even be some brief/minor tidal flooding. However, the rest of the region will have great weather! We’ll be mostly sunny with high temps in the mid-upper 60s.

Forecast Temps Tomorrow

Temps may dip a bit on Wednesday. A back door cool front may slide in from the north. However, it’s hard to tell how far south it will push. Either way we should stay dry with partly cloudy skies. For now I have highs in the low 60s. We’ll warm to near 70 on Thursday with partly cloudy skies. Then we’ll be in the upper 60s on Friday.

Temperature Trend

It will be nice to get some milder air this week and going into next weekend. I’m really looking forward to doing more outside. However, I’m not looking forward to the extra yard work and pollen.
