Over the weekend we had some more of that dry/chilly air that you would expect in February. It feels like we’ve had a lot of that lately. Looking back at high temperatures over the last 2 weeks you can see that there was some wild swings in temps about a week ago, but temps recently have been pretty steady.

Recent High Temps

I’d say that it has felt really chilly lately as I’ve walked my dog. However, I have to remember that a lot of times in February it’s too frigid to even try to walk the dog. Anyway, today we are going to continue with the dry, chilly, and breezy conditions. High pressure is to our northwest with low pressure offshore.

Regional Weather Map

We’ll have a good amount of sunshine today with a little more clouds over the Outer Banks. However, we’ll also have that northeast breeze picking up again. It will run at 10-15mph with a few higher gusts near the shore. The winds will calm down a bit during the afternoon. High temps will only run in the mid-upper 40s with a few 50s inland/south.

Forecast Temps Today

Tomorrow we’ll have a similar setup. We’ll have lots of sunshine with a few PM clouds. The breeze may be even stronger tomorrow. High temps will stay in the 40s.

Forecast Temps Tomorrow

They will have some nice warming (again) to our west and northwest. It will be milder in Chicago than in Norfolk Tuesday. We’ll stay dry on Wednesday with high temps near 50 degrees. We’ll warm up later in the week. High temps will run in the upper 50s on Thursday.

Temperature Trend

We’ll stay mild on Friday, but there will be some scattered rain showers. They may be mostly in the morning, but could linger into midday.

In world news… There was a recent article about 3 commercial aircraft over the Atlantic Ocean that traveled at over 800 mph. The reason….A heck of a tailwind. Apparently, the jetstream was roaring at over 260mph. Wow! Here is the article with more information: Commercial aircraft fly over 800mph.

In other news… California continues to be pummeled by heavy rain. At one point recently almost the entire population of the state was under some type of flood alert. Here is that article with more info: California flood alerts.
