SAN DIEGO (Border Report) — Two engineers working for the city of Tijuana have been missing for more than a week and foul play is suspected in their disappearance.
José Alfonso Guerrero Chávez and Rubén Acosta were working in a remote area of the city doing topography work surveying a future roadway project.
Both have not answered their phones since March 27, according to investigators who say they suspect foul play.
A colleague who requested anonymity said Guerrero Chávez called to tell him they had encountered people preventing them from flying their drones over the area and were asking them to leave.
The city is involved in the construction of several roads into a new residential project.
Friends and family of the missing engineers have organized an independent search for their loved ones.
Private groups who search for missing people have also joined the search.
The College of Engineers in Tijuana is distributing flyers with pictures of the missing men hoping someone spots them.
The two engineers were working out of a purple Ford S-10 truck, which is also missing.
