EL PASO, Texas (Border Report) – Authorities in Juarez, Mexico, have arrested five people in connection with a raid on a suspected migrant stash house over the weekend.
The suspects were holding 25 migrants believed to be from Central and South America in a home in the Cerrada del Parque neighborhood south of El Paso’s Lower Valley. Authorities said they searched the home in response to an anonymous tip. Eight women and at least two minors were among the group of migrants, according to local news reports.
Authorities in Juarez on Sunday released a photograph of the rescued migrants and linked some of their captors to members of the criminal group La Empresa.
U.S. authorities last month also linked La Empresa to a stash house in Sunland Park, New Mexico, where 28 migrants were being kept. Five suspected smugglers are facing charges in U.S. federal court in connection with that incident.
