Over $1.7 million raised on Give Local 757

HAMPTON ROADS, Va. (WAVY) – On Tuesday, April 23, the Give Local 757!™ initiative supported local organizations in the Hampton Roads region.

The event, hosted each year, allows everyone to be a philanthropist and give or fundraise for a cause.


Give Local 757! is a initiative of the Peninsula Community Foundation. Organizations that are verified 501(c)(3) charitable nonprofits that are headquartered or provide service in Hampton Roads can participate.

Here are the totals for this year’s 24-hours of giving: $1,740,975 was raised by 9,005 donors and given to 208 local organizations.

The most money was raised was for Vanguard Landing, followed by THRIVE Peninsula and the Hampton-Newport News Achievement Foundation. 20 Pearls Foundation, Inc. had the highest number of individual donors.

Some organizations had special giving periods throughout the day where the donation was matched, or participants were entered into special campaigns.
