The Vikings are coming! They will be raiding Norfolk for several days in September. The Norwegian Viking Ship Draken Harald Hårfagre (Draken) will visit 14 harbors across the East Coast on its Expedition America: East Coast Tour 2018 — and Norfolk is one of them. The Vikings were accomplished navigators, artisans, traders and storytellers. But above all, they were amazing ship builders. The impressive Draken ship sails into Norfolk on Thursday, September 13 and will remain docked along the waterfront at Nauticus through September 16. Visitors will be able to take timed and ticketed tours of the world’s largest Viking ship and interact with its crew. Guests can also experience the Draken Village, which is free and open to the public. An arrival ceremony is planned for Sept. 13 at 4:30 p.m. Captain Björn Ahlander and his crew will welcome the crowd and introduce the Draken. This is a free event. The ticketed 30-minute tours run Friday through Sunday, from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m. The tickets cost $6 for children (ages 5 to 15) and $12 for adults. You can also purchase a family pack for $30, which provides entry for two adults and up to three children. Click here to purchase tickets or buy them on site at the Draken Village. And check out this a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity… The Draken is accepting applications now for public volunteer crew positions during the tour. If you’re interested,  apply here.
