PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) — Virginia reported 180 new coronavirus cases and four new COVID-19 deaths on Friday.

The Virginia Department of Health also reported 17 new cases of the more contagious delta variant in the past week. The weekly-update database online was updated on Friday showing 67 delta cases cumulatively. 8 of those cases have been in the Eastern region.

Cases have gone up slightly recently but overall remain relatively low (below 200 cases per day) and hospitalizations are still trending down overall. Deaths are still down overall (around 6 per day).
