(The Hill) – Amazon has added a disclaimer to the season finale of “The Boys” in the aftermath of the assassination attempt on former President Trump.

“This episode contains scenes of fictional political violence. Any similarities to recent events are completely coincidental and unintentional,” reads the message. “Prime Video, Amazon MGM Studios, Sony Pictures Television and the producers of ‘The Boys’ oppose, in the strongest terms, real-world violence of any kind.”

A statement posted to Instagram by “The Boys” account and Sony Pictures TV said that any similarities between the season finale and the shooting during Trump’s rally in Pennsylvania over the weekend were coincidental.

“The season finale of The Boys contains scenes of fictional political violence, which some viewers may find disturbing, especially in light of the injuries and tragic loss of life sustained during the assassination attempt on former President Trump,” the statement read.

“The Boys is a fictitious series that was filmed in 2023, and any scene or plotline similarities to these real-world events are coincidental and unintentional. Amazon, Sony Pictures Television and the producers of ‘The Boys’ reject, in the strongest terms, real-world violence of any kind.”

The season finale dropped midnight on Thursday, and was initially titled “Assassination Run,” according to Deadline. The episode’s title as of Thursday morning was “Season Four Finale.”

“The Boys,” based on a comic book of the same name, is a fictional superhero series featuring characters who “abuse their superpowers rather than use them for good,” according to an official description of the series.

The plot of the show’s latest season concerns a superhero who is attempting to disrupt a presidential election.

“Calling all patriots! We will not allow this stolen election to be certified tomorrow! We must stop Bob Singer’s woke anti-Supe agenda! PREPARE FOR WAR!” the description of the season finale reads.

In recent days, President Biden and numerous lawmakers have called on both sides of the aisle to tone down political rhetoric after a gunman took aim at the former president during a rally on Saturday. Trump was wounded, one rally attendee was killed, and two others were injured. The shooter was killed by a counter-sniper shortly after firing toward Trump.
