NEW KENT COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — Colonial Downs Racetrack is hosting a competition to find “The Voice of Virginia,” who will sing the National Anthem during its Festival of Racing this August.

According to a June 19 press release, the racetrack is asking Virginia’s most talented singers and performers to enter this online competition for a chance to win both a $1,000 prize and the opportunity to sing the National Anthem during this year’s Festival of Racing on Aug. 10.

If you are interested, audition videos are being accepted until June 26. Submit a video of yourself singing the National Anthem by that deadline for a chance to be selected.

According to the release, the top contenders from this audition cycle will then be showcased on the Colonial Downs’ Facebook page for community voting. The 4 finalists from that community poll, selected by July 8, will then be invited to an in-person sing-off at Colonial Downs Racetrack.

This sing-off will be put to a second and final vote on Facebook, which will determine a winner.
