WAVY-TV 10 and WVBT FOX-43 will join Nexstar Media Group’s 200 stations on Friday, June 14, 2024 for the 28th Annual Founder’s Day of Caring.
As part of this year’s local effort, WAVY is asking the community for help.
Nexstar’s Founder’s Day of Caring occurs each year in June. It allows employees the opportunity to do volunteer work during a workday at non-profit and public service organizations in the local communities served by Nexstar television stations.
The choice of which organizations to support is made at the local level, and covers a wide range of charities and social service agencies. In 2023, 5,700 Nexstar employees across the company volunteered more than 17,500 hours of services at 240 charitable organizations.
This year, WAVY-TV 10 is thrilled to be supporting the H.E.R. Shelter and Oasis Social Ministry.
HOW YOU CAN GET INVOLVED
WAVY TV held a community drive on June 5, 2024 At Pembroke Square (formerly Pembroke Mall) from 11 a.m. until 6 p.m. to collect much needed donations for both organizations. All proceeds will be donated to the H.E.R. Shelter and Oasis Social Ministry. WAVY Reporter Andy Fox and Super Doppler 10 Meteorologist Ricky Matthews were at the event collecting donations and providing live coverage that day.
The community donated 1,388 pounds of food, equaling 2,082 meals!
