PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) – In 1902, Pembroke Gwaltney Jr. cured a ham, tagged it and forgot about it. Twenty years later, Gwaltney found it in a storage and named it his “pet ham.” That pet ham is known as Hammy and its celebrating another birthday.
