PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) – Long-time local baseball coach Norbie Wilson has battled Alzheimer’s for 8 years. He lost his mother to the disease and has seen firsthand how the progressive disease destroys memory and other important mental functions. The beloved coach, mentor and role model continues to help others by leading by example. First Colonial High School and Cape Henry Collegiate, which sit side-by-side on Mill Dam Road played a baseball game to honor Wilson and to raise awareness and funds to fight this deadly disease. Neighbors helping neighbors, with a very important message is the subject of this week’s Reck on the Road.
