Immersive experiences of Black culture coming in February to Portsmouth

PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) — Home Studios is presenting a new art series called Black History Now: Art is Revolutionary.

The studio is collaborating with the city of Portsmouth and Portsmouth museums. The six-week series is scheduled to start Feb. 2 and goes throughout February. The event will highlight different aspects of Black culture throughout the weeks including food, art, films, music and fashion.


“Black history is American history,” said Portsmouth Interim City Manager Mimi Terry. “This series not only celebrates remarkable individuals and their artistry, but also serves as a vital platform for amplifying ongoing conversations about equality, justice and progress. We, as a city, are proud to invest in and champion initiatives that foster inclusivity and empower all members of our community.”
