NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — A Norfolk brewery took home two medals at the national 2024 Great American Beer Festival in Denver, a release states.

The festival was organized by the Brewers Association. There were nearly 9,000 beers entered in over 100 categories. Breweries in Virginia took home four gold, three silver and six bronze medals. Two of those awards went to a location in Hampton Roads.

Benchtop Brewing Co. in Norfolk won a silver medal for their “Pilsners are Lagers, Kellerbier or Zwickelbier,” and a bronze medal for “Trash Pandamonium, Strong Red Ale.”

Benchtop Brewing Co. is located at 1129 Boissevain Ave., in the Chelsea District of Norfolk.

“We’re proud to see so many of our independent craft breweries recognized on a national level,” said Brett Vassey, President and CEO, Virginia Craft Brewers Guild. “This year’s success at the Great American Beer Festival speaks to the creativity, passion, and hard work of our brewers, and their contributions to the Commonwealth’s craft beer culture.”
