NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — A local mixologist had made it to the final round of the Virginia Cocktail Games.

There were five finalists selected — one from each region of Virginia.

  • Coastal: Ramos à la Mode by Amanda Liebrich | Glass Light Restaurant, Norfolk, Va.
  • Central: Pour l’amour du Gin by Breannah Carr | Devil’s Backbone, Roseland, Va.
  • Northern: Victory Coupe by Julieta Hernandez | The Catamount Lounge, Front Royal, Va.
  • Southern: The Qualifier (Qualificatif) by Melanie Holmes | The Tavern in Abingdon, Va.
  • Western: Take 5 by Henry Hill Jr. | The Hotel Roanoke and Conference Center, Roanoke, Va.

Liebrich from Norfolk will compete in a live, in-person showdown on Sept. 14 during Virginia Spirits Month at the Virginia Museum of History and Culture.

The showdown will consist of a judged panel before the event opens to the public. Guests have the opportunity to taste and vote on the cocktail creations from the finalists before 7:30 p.m. Votes from the judges and guests will be tallied at the end of the evening.

The winning mixologist will be credited with creating the “Virginia 2024 Cocktail of the Year,” which will be promoted on VirginiaSpirits.org, @vaspirits social media channels and in Virginia ABC stores throughout Virginia. The winner will also receive a cash prize and registration, accommodation and a travel stipend to attend the US Bartender’s Guild’s Bar Summit 2025.
