NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) – The Norfolk Street Choir will have its first-ever Sing Showcase, which is a 90-minute performance featuring renditions of songs by Bill Withers, Dionne Warwick, Michael Jackson and other recording artists.

Directed by Robert Shoup, the choir will be joined on stage by professional instrumentalists and singers such as members of the Virginia Symphony Chorus. Audience members will also be encouraged to sing along.

The nonprofit’s Sing Showcase aims to create a sense of community and raise awareness to homelessness in Hampton Roads, per a release.

Additionally, the free event will include the public premiere of the choir’s video, “Who Do You Say That I Am” and a display of artwork created by people affected by homelessness.

Norfolk Street Choir’s Sing Showcase will be held at the Attucks Theatre on Saturday, Oct. 5 at 4 p.m. Doors open at 3:30 p.m.
