NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) – People have already started to save their spots for the 57th Annual Saint Patrick’s Day Parade in Norfolk.
10 On Your Side captured video of the route along Granby Street Tuesday, with people already claiming their spot.
Norfolk resident Craig Weil is one of them, “It started out at, it was 8 a.m., then 5 a.m., then the day before, and now, as you can see, the week before the parade and we try to get a little spot since we live out here.”
The parade, which started in 1968, will start at Northside Middle School on Saturday at 10 a.m. The parade route is about 1.5 miles long, ending at the intersection of First View and Government Avenue.
This year’s Grand Marshal is Norfolk Sheriff Joe Baron.
Food and refreshments will be available at the Columbian Club of Ocean View after the parade. Admission to the event is free and open to the public.
The full parade route, as well as the best places to park, can be viewed here.
Norfolk’s popular parade was called off in 2020, 2021 and 2022 because of the pandemic and weather.
