Waterside District to reopen in Phase 3 with modified schedule

NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — Waterside District officials say they will begin to slowly reopen in July amid the coronavirus pandemic.

Waterside announced their excitement on social media Monday that they will be reopening Wednesday at noon.

The city-owned waterfront pavilion, managed by Baltimore based Cordish Companies, temporarily closed mid-March amid the coronavirus outbreak.

With Virginia’s phase 3 reopening guidelines, Waterside’s 12 bars, restaurants and snack stands would all be permitted to do business under strict restrictions.

While capacity won’t be limited to a specific number, restaurants and bars will have to make sure separate parties are placed 6 feet apart at all times.

Waterside said they have put the following measures into place:

For the customer, face coverings will be required and they encourage you to pay with plastic.

Starting July 1, Cogans Pizza Ghent, Guy Fieri’s Smokehouse, and Starr Hill Market will start off Waterside District’s reopening. PBR Norfolk will soon follow on July 3.
