PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) – A solomn ceremony for a tragic event, last Friday marked 35 years since a turret exploded on the USS Iowa, claiming the lives of 47 sailors.
To honor their memory, fellow sailors and family members alike came together for a day of remembrance for those that were lost that day. Those in attendance say they have all developed a special bond, and that they are a family who will always be there for each other.
